The Dish Network User's Resource
The 922 is based on the 722k architecture with a totally new GUI and the addition of built-in Sling technology. It was nitially known as the “722s” and passed FCC certification as the “ViP822.”
Availability / Upgrade Offers
- Shown at CES 2009 where it won a “cnet Best of CES 2009” award in the Home Video category
- The CES press release gives a spring 2009 target date. Representatives at the Dish display were saying spring or summer. Charlie Ergen on the March Charlie Chat said around June 1.
- Dealers who attended Team Summit 2009 will be able to demo/test in early June, with a target of August 2009 for release to subscribers
- On the Dec 2009 Charlie Chat, Charlies estimates a Feb 2010 release
- Availble 4/7/10. Lease upgrade: $200 (1 leased 922 per account); MSRP $649
- Dish has currently (since late fall 2011) suspended availability “because the BBMP software targeted for mid-November release isn't ready.” Dealers are able to offer it.
Receiver
- 2 HD satellite tuners
- No OTA tuner but the MT2 tuner module can be added. With this module both TV1 and TV2 can watch separate OTA channels at the same time. The tuner also adds a modulator which can output video signals

- All 4 tuners can record HD simultaneously
- 1TB hard disk drive, 350 hours SD or 55 hours HD in 500GB of user space, will come pre-loaded with name HD movies
- Front features capacitive-touch technology with no buttons and is backlit instead of using LCDs

TV2 - SD output only (HD possible via Sling)

- New UHF 2G remote has a built in touch pad and a trigger on the back to select the items you have chosen (pre-release only)
- Ships with the 32.0 remote
