The Dish Network User's Resource
There are several things you will need to know if you intend to self-install or add to a Dish system.
If you have a dual-tuner receiver, it is important to understand the distinction between "receiver" and "tuner." A receiver, or IRD (integrated receiver-decoder), can have 1 or 2 tuners. Each tuner must have its own satellite input. If you have DishPro or legacy switches, each dual-tuner receiver is counted as 2 tuners, each of which must have its own line to the switch. On the DishPro Plus chart note that number of tuners is replaced with number of receivers since a dual-tuner receiver can be fed by a single run of RG6 from a DPP switch when used in combination with a DPP Separator behind the receiver.
