My expertiese is in in the IBM mainframe systems software development area. My preference is for a telecommuting or San Francisco Bay Area opportunity, or for a company located in Western Europe (an opportunity to work on a product that supports the three major IBM platforms along with the BS2000/OSD operating system would be highly welcomed).

I am seeking a position that utilizes my in-depth knowledge of IBM z/Architecture assembly language and z/OS and z/VSE operating systems internals. The employing company ideally should have access to IBM disclosures and other internal and pre-releaseinformation, including possibly pre-release versions of operating systems, and has products that operate on multiple platforms. z/VM, BS2000/OSD, VM2000, MSP-EX, VOS3 platform product development is a plus.

Work History:

09/04 - Present - (withheld) - Sr. Software Engineer
Develop, design and maintain DB2 monitor product, written in IBM z/Architecture Assembler and C, operating under z/OS. Utilize knowledge of z/OS and DB2 internals. Some REXX and CLIST development under ISPF.

09/03 - 09/04 - CIMS Lab, Inc. - Software Developer
Develop, design and maintain CIMS and CPPR product programs written in IBM z/Architecture Assembler (primary), C/C++, COBOL, and REXX on z/OS, z/VM and z/VSE. C/C++, and VBScript development on Wintel platform (including single-source C/C++ programs for multiple platforms). Systems programmer/administrator for FLEX-ES system running z/OS, z/VSE z/VM and different versions of z/Linux.

11/97 - 7/03 - Software AG - Senior R&D Specialist.
Develop and maintain Entire System Server product in IBM Assembler (z/OS and VSE/ESA environments). Code runs in both program and supervisor states (including key 0), and accesses system components at a deep level. Product also has extensive I/O code, including use of FAMS in z/OS. Extensive subtasking is used, as are some dataspace routines.

06/95 - 11/97 - - Platinum Technology, inc. Software Developer.
Modify CIMS product programs in IBM assembler, COBOL and C. Design and write enhancements to Zeke batch job scheduler package and OASIS support software in IBM Assembly language for MVS, VSE and CMS. Modified ISPF programs.

12/90 - 04/95 - Software AG of North America, Highlands Ranch, CO - Sr. Customer Support Representative.
Supported various products in the Data Communications group, including COM-PLETE/ADABAS TPF, ENTIRE SYSTEM SERVER (formerly NATURAL PROCESS), ENTIRE NET-WORK, ENTIRE CONNECTION. Wrote portions of current release of ENTIRE SYSTEM SERVER in IBM assembler. Duties include problem diagnosis with customers, dump reading, and writing machine code zaps. Supported several NATURAL-based products. Wrote several in-house NATURAL applications. Was ADABAS D.B.A., NATURAL System Administrator, COM-PLETE System Programmer and RACF Department Administrator for in-house test systems Operating systems used were MVS/ESA (primarily, up to version 5.2), VSE/ESA 1.3, MS-DOS, Windows and HP Unix.

03/88 - 12/90 - The Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles, CA - Sr. Systems Programmer.
System programmer in charge of COM-PLETE. Wrote in-house assembly programs. Assisted ADABAS D.B.A. and NATURAL System Administrator. Assisted application programmers in debugging programs. TOP-SECRET Department Administrator. Operating systems used were MVS/ESA and VM.

09/86 - 03/88 - CCH Computax, Torrance, CA - Systems Programmer.
System Programmer in charge of COM-PLETE, OMEGAMON, ABENDAID and other third-party IBM mainframe products. VM System Programmer. MVS System Programmer. Wrote several in-house assembly programs. Assisted ADABAS D.B.A. and NATURAL System Administrator. Operating systems used were MVS/XA and VM/XA.

09/84 - 09/86 - The Holden Group, West Los Angeles, CA - Programmer/Analyst II.
Application Programmer/Analyst. Designed and wrote CICS command level COBOL and assembly code for a 401(k) administration system. Wrote several in-house assembly programs. Was a critical part of an ISAM/VSAM conversion. Operating systems used were MVS/370, VM and VS1.

03/83 - 06/84 - Great Western Bank, Northridge, CA - Programmer/Analyst I.
Installed and maintained IBM PC hardware and software. Wrote several in-house BASIC programs for company-wide use. Also supported and modified home-grown job scheduling system written in IBM mainframe assembler.

I have also been a computer lab student worker, computer lab manager and part-time instructor at Los Angeles Valley College, Van Nuys, CA, at various times from 02/80 through 06/87.
