Mini-biographies of members of the class of 1979

Back

Some folks have allowed me to post biographical information to let y'all know what they're doing! Pick from the following list:

Help me out! Send your photos to me - if you don't have access to a scanner, email me and I'll give you my mailing address - all pictures returned!

Carl Chivers

Carl lives in Chatsworth with his new bride (since October 1998) Lee (but he's know her since he was 14 - before Montclair days!). He has a son, Timothy. He works for a software development firm in customer support.

Brian Cox

Brian writes:
I graduated June of '84 from UCSC with a bachelor's in Experimental Psychology and a bachelor's in Computer and Information Sciences. I've worked for numerous software companies including Apple Computer. I currently work for a Silicon Valley startup called Full Circle Software. If you've ever run a recent version of Netscape Navigator (4.05 or 4.5) and had the misfortune of crashing, you've probably seen our software. (Ed.: I saw it numerous times when I was doing beta testing on Navigator 4.5 :-) )

I've been married to my wife Lisa for 10 years now. We have 3 cats and no kids. (Sound familiar?) (Ed.: See below)

Lisa's hobby is buying, selling and trading Breyer and other model horses. I'll put up a shameless plug for her website: http://www.got.net/~reaper/main.html

I can't remember her eBay page -- I'll add it when I find out. (Ed.: here)

Tames Alan (Tammy DePue)

Tames Alan is working as an actress, historical consultant, and college fashion history teacher. She has combined her skills to create Living History Lectures -- one-woman, costumed, historical shows that are educational entertainment. She tours throughout the US and Canada. Tames and her husband of many years, Jim Alan, live on a ten-acre working farm in western Washington state, where they raise a rare breed of horse, the American Bashkir Curly, as well as chickens, sheep, and tend a historical orchard. For more information and pictures of Tames and the farm, visit her web site at: http://www.oz.net/~tamsalan/

Richard Goldman

Rich operates his own business in Encino. He is married and has a daughter.

L to R: Richard, Sydney, Katherine

Brian Grossman

Brian lives in Miami and is a psychologist. He has been married for three years. His wife sells printing. Brian is also a member of the National Speakers Association and travels around the country giving talks on team leadership, supervision and increasing profits. He has also started his own business called Strategic Environmental $avings.

Brett Hawkins

Brett lives in Walnut Creek with his wife Janis, his daughter Tabetha and his son Christopher.

Phil Henderson

Phil writes:
For the past 11 years I have been a research chemist with Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. in Allentown, PA (Yup, the one from the Billy Joel song). It's a wonderful area: great *public* schools, lots of hills and open space and less than an hour away from Philadelphia, less than 2 hours from New York, less than 3 hours from Baltimore, and less than 4 hours from Wash, DC all of which beat the heck out of Smell-A. I've been married for 12 years and have two daughters, ages 6 and 10; actually met my wife through an ad in the LA Reader while I was at USC getting my chemistry Ph.D. Major pastimes include music (play every Sunday with a band [rhythm and lead guitar!] for a contemporary music service at church), computers, strategy board games, coaching kid sports, going to the movies, and caber tossing (OK, I don't really toss cabers - just seeing if you were still awake)

Sharon Makokian

Sharon lives in the West Valley and is a free-lance writer. She has previously worked for newspapers and is the co-author of Pasadena-Heritage to High Tech and another book.

Ray Mullins

Ray has been married for 10 years to Cheri. They met through Cheri's brother Tim, who replaced Ray as a computer lab manager at Los Angeles Valley College.

They have no children, but 3 cats (which act like children in many ways). They currently live in Roseville, California, but will be moving to Big Bear by July.

They moved from L.A. to Atlanta in 1991, then to Denver in 1992, Arlington, Texas in 1995, and Roseville in 1996. No pictures, because they're already on my home page (Cheri doesn't like having her picture taken). :-) Ray works for a German software firm, Software AG, and Cheri sells on eBay (which is how this whole mess started). Ray also works as a web design consultant for transit agencies with California Transit Publications and he also is a member of the Southern California Transit Advocates (SO.CA.TA).

Recently, Ray appeared twice on television. In May 1997, Ray appeared on "The Maury Povich Show" on an episode dedicated to children who had appeared on the "Kids Say The Darndest Things" segments of the "Art Linkletter Show" (he originally appeared in 1968). This was followed by an appearance on the current "Kids" with Bill Cosby, when his "skunk heaven" clip was aired. If you're real nice to him, he may show the tapes whenever we get together. :-)

Bettina Rohan

Bettina lives in North Hollywood and is currently between jobs.
